Audiology: Inner ears remain congested. I was wondering if that would be the case as related to the recent illnesses that Camden has had. Audiology recommended to repeat the hearing test in 2-3 months and if his eustachian canal remains congested to follow up with ENT. Oncology says, NOPE....we order an ENT test today and now I am waiting for the appointment date. His hearing maintains more impaired *like last time...but we bypassed the inner ear canal and did an external exam *behind the ear, and those results are very comparable to the test done last June. The catch is not only to monitor the regressing hearing for the purpose of hearing aids, but if his hearing worsens beyond a grade III impairment, we have to stop his chemo and wait for his hearing to improve (which it should with this medication he is currently on), but if it doesn't improve: we end our maintenance chemo...which would be very very very upsetting. So, we are praying that the inner ear congestion remains the culprit to the worsening hearing and this TOO will resolve. ALTHOUGH, we know that Camden's future is in the hands of the greatest Physician....with whom we trust the most. Also, we have decided to implement speech therapy very distantly, to ensure that we are not missing anything.
Clinic: Blood work was "easy squeezey lemon pleasey" as Camden would say. No ouchies and no tears. We are waiting for labs results and his urine results will be next Tues. There remains some congestion in his lungs: left lower lobe *where the pneumonia settled. Two breathing treatments later, it did improve. Respiratory trained Camden how to use an inhaler with a spacer for continued respiratory treatments (used sparingly...as a rescue agent). It will not treat the pneumonia, but it will open his airways. His oncologist answered all of my questions. Despite being a long day, we have no complaints. I am investigating some further alternative treatment options to restore Camden to being a balanced child and also, in conjunction with our social worker, I am seeking out additional support systems for Camden. All and all...it could always be worse....Thanks for all the <3....
