Off precautions, no longer restricted to staying in our room. Still limiting visitors, as WBC remains at 0. Camden did 3 laps today around entire unit....3rd lap WITHOUT WALKER, WITHOUT HOLDING MY HAND.....totally SOLO!! So happy!!!!!!
A special thank you to all involved in making last night possible! So many people made comments about how you could feel the love in the room....that is what it is all about!! We are so blessed to have all of you in our lives. Ron and I thank each and every one of you for being a Camden's Crusader!
On a different note, Camden is off morphine and all pain medication. He is up and moving using a walker, taking laps around the unit here. He is in good spirits. Chemo did its job this cycle...knocking out his bad cells and taking the good ones too...we are waiting for his body to recover from that. As we wait, we continue to eat more and get stronger! Much love and appreciation to all!!! We were hopeful for our initial plan of returning home tomorrow! Camden is off tube feeds, eating pretty well, off a lot of medications, walking much better and overall feeling much better! However, discharge has been postponed because his white blood count is very dangerously low....we will remain here until his count elevates and we are safe to return home. My gutt tells me we might be here until cycle 2 of chemo (i hope not). But with that being said, great effects from chemo cycle 1 and it is working just as it should!
Day 5 chemo complete! We remain here at CCMC for a few more days in an effort to wean Cam from IV nutrition and IV medications. The other piece that will keep us here is his nightly fevers. Fevers are a big concern and even if he gets one at home, its a ED visit or readmission to hospital. Hoping those subside now that chemo is complete for cycle 1. We are getting restless here and anxious to return home! Rest assured we are in caring hands as all of the doctors, nurses, and everyone else here has been nothing but wonderful!!
