Great News!!!

6/30/2013

The infection is GONE!!! 3 days of negative cultures!! Thank you God!! No surgery!!! 10 more days of IV antibiotics, but that is better than 3 more operating room visits (this one out, new one in after round 3 chemo, that one out)! Now-NO PROBLEMS with this line...it has to last 3ish more weeks. Suspect no delay in chemo, will see in the AM! Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!! We are rejoicing today!!!!

Good news!!!

Negative cultures so far with new antibiotics on board!!! We need one more day of a negative culture to avoid going back to the OR!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Special Visitor

Thank you Bob Bachlund, retired hall of fame WWE champion wrestler, for visiting us this morning. You brightened up our day! Camden will be sure to practice your patented move~thanks for sharing!!!

Update

6/27/2013

Cultures revealed a staph infection, which is what we expected.  Antibiotics will be changed to fight this particular type of staph and we hope it will clear.  If it does not clear by Sunday, Camden will have to return to the OR for removal of this line, only to be replaced after round 3 of chemo.  Camden has a lot of battle wounds, with so many more to endure... We've wrapped him in armor and will get him through this!! Prayers!!

Quiet day today

6/26/2013

We have spent most of the day today relaxing, playing board games, doing arts and crafts, and watching movies. We continue to wait for the final word from the blood cultures, but from a presentation stand point, Camden looks good and has responded well to treatment (my little superhero). He will remain on IV antibiotics for the 10 day course, whether we are here or home. Round 3 chemo starts Tuesday, so.....home or not home...who knows, pack or unpack, who knows....one day at a time!!

Extended Stay

6/25/2013

It has been an extremely busy day. I understand many are waiting for an update. It is amazing how difficult it is to write just one sentence without an interruption of some sort. Thank you for your patience!! Camden's lab results for his hemoglobin and platelets came back good....just what we wanted, successful transfusions!! Camden is feeling great. He is active and playing again! The surgical site is indeed indicating an infection, causing a delay with the stem cell harvest which would have been this week, and now will wait until after round 3 of chemo. It is important to be cautious with this infection and we would not want to reintroduce the infection down the road during the transplant phase. Our stay at CCMC has been extended, but we are in caring hands and have complete trust in Camden's doctor that we are making all of the best decisions!!

Plans have changed

6/24/2013

Getting admitted! Camdens white blood cell count is up!! YAY, BUT red blood count is low and platelets are low, requiring a transfusion for both. Platelet transfusion complete, but he got "a" hive from it, which is a sign of a "reaction." Boooo! Still waiting for red blood cell transfusion. The bad part to the day is the surgical site from cathetor placement is still red and swollen, indicating a possible infection. He will receive a precautionary antibiotic. Please pray if it is an infection, that it is only a superficial skin infection, NOT a line infection or blood infection, which would require removal of the line and further delay his stem cell harvest, which ideally should have been today! On the positive, the line is working and he has NOT had a fever!! PLEASE PRAY NO INFECTION, PLEASE PRAY THE LINE DOES NOT HAVE TO GET REMOVED, PLEASE PRAY FOR NO FURTHER DELAYS IN HIS TREATMENT PLAN!!!!

A weekend apart

6/22/2013

Camden is home with Dad! Emma and I are staying with Ron's parents this weekend, as Emma had a fever yesterday afternoon. We were hoping to enjoy a sunny weekend together, but it is important to keep Cam healthy!! Camden had a special delivery from UPS yesterday. He is a lucky boy to have received an amazing present from our family in New Hampshire! I am sure he is anxiously supervising the careful assembly of his Peg-Pegero Polaris Ranger RZR! Thank you everyone up north for the gift!! Looking forward to seeing pictures his smiling face!!! (Cam is feeling good, visiting nurses are coming to our home this weekend for dressing changes and line care for his new access lines). Thank you everyone for the support, it means a lot!!

    Mommy & Me

    Mommy

She's going to keep everyone up to date about my progress.  Isn't she the best mommy ever?

Mommy thought long and hard about my new website.  She thought about protecting me and not putting my hospital pictures online.  But my mommy wants everyone to know that Neuroblastoma isn't just another illness, that it's scary and very serious.  My mommy wants to make sure that other kids don't go through this and that their parents know what to look for.  My cancer is very mean, and I'm scared, but I have my mommy - and daddy - to rub my belly and hold me tight.  I love them so much!
